Tall ships, such as the Hawaiian Chieftan and the Lady Washington, as well as others, visit San Francisco Bay from time to time.

The Rolex BBS is the largest and most hotly contested regatta on San Francisco Bay and is hosted by the St. Francis Yacht Club. It fills the central San Francisco Bay with boats in a number of one-design classes and several IRC divisions
